How to check your case in the official tool
USCIS publishes times at egov.uscis.gov/processing-times. Select the form, then the category that matches your case, then the office shown on your receipt notice (I-797). The tool shows the current processing time and a “receipt date for a case inquiry”: if your receipt date is earlier than that date, USCIS considers your case outside normal processing time and you can submit an inquiry.
